BMR Calculator

Basal Metabolic Rate — the calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day.

How it works

Mifflin-St Jeor (1990): BMR = 10×weight(kg) + 6.25×height(cm) − 5×age(y) + 5 (men) or − 161 (women).

Worked example

30y male, 75 kg, 175 cm: 10×75 + 6.25×175 − 5×30 + 5 = 1,699 kcal/day BMR.

Who should use this

  • Anyone planning calorie targets
  • Athletes calculating recovery needs

Common mistakes

  • ×Confusing BMR (resting) with TDEE (total daily burn)
  • ×Using out-of-date Harris-Benedict formula
