Personal Injury Compensation Calculator

Answer a few questions to get an indicative bracket for general damages on a personal injury claim. This is not a quote and does not include special damages such as lost earnings.

Short answer

UK personal injury compensation has two parts: General Damages (pain & suffering — Judicial College Guidelines bracket by injury type and severity) and Special Damages (financial losses — earnings, treatment, care, travel, equipment). Most claims settle within Judicial College Guidelines (16th edition).

About the incident

Tell us briefly what happened.

How it works

We use Judicial College Guideline brackets for the injury type plus your declared losses. Real settlements weigh medical reports, recovery time, prognosis, age, and whether liability is admitted or contested.

Worked example

Moderate whiplash 9 months recovery: General Damages ~£4,500 (JCG bracket). Special Damages: £1,800 lost earnings + £150 physio + £80 travel = £2,030. Total ~£6,530.

Who should use this

  • Anyone injured in the last 3 years through someone else's fault
  • People injured at work, in a road accident, in a public place or by faulty product
  • Family members claiming for a deceased relative

Common mistakes

  • ×Settling early before recovery is complete (under-compensation)
  • ×Not keeping receipts and a daily symptom diary
  • ×Missing the 3-year limitation date (date of injury or knowledge)
  • ×Accepting an insurer's first 'pre-medical' offer
